Worst tire for mud hands down!
Date: Apr 20, 2016 | |
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Crystal, Mi)
Had a set of 35's on a K5, when I would go anywhere with mud, from black dirt mud, red clay or just a plain old dirt road in SC, they would cake up with mud. So bad they would become larger with mud and I would loose steering traction from literally having zero tread showing through to touch the road. They also wore strange . I have used TSL/SX and they were great, used TSL even better in mud but SX last longer on road. And had Ground hogs, they were great forward but in reverse you couldn't get traction. Hands down if you want a great mud tire, I recomend TSL or the TSL/SX.

I have an 85 Cj7 that i bought with a set of these. The fronts were in good shape and the rears were spent. That was almost two years ago and i haven't had to be pulled out of anything but my driveway when my flyeheel needed to be replaced. I've pulled a 20ft boat out of a muddy lake front. No problems in deep sugar sand. I've had no problems in watery muddy trails. Im not sure ill buy another set or not. But Im considering it. Plus they look good.

Thornbirds For The Right Price

Ive got the 38.5's,and i have to say that if you got the power to turn em(ive got a 350),theyre a decent tire..but with that said,id recommend a more aggressive tire unless you ve got em a a decent price.(150 a tire)..they look pretty...thats it! theyre noisy, they dont clean the mud out, they have narrow channels, which suck in the snow or rain....all youre buyin are the lugs! just dont take these out without a buddy to winch you out!

Get a heavy truck folks and see the diffrence! I went from mud tires to all terrain thornbirds! If ur havin issues in the mud take it out of 4low and put it in 4high, clear your tires and hold on, they WILL get u through the mud! They WILL hook up and once they start, if u got the power, they WILL hold! Its wet in this part of the world, I've put these things to the true test of HARDCORE 4wheelin not just a weekend thing! I've destroyed some and im still buyin them because 4 a HEAVY truck with insane torque these tires hold better than any other! My opinion!!!

Garbage | |

These are the worst tires out there...anyone who thinks otherwise probably bought these and never used any otehr off-road tires so they think they are good because theya re better then the junk stock tires. if you bought these tires and never got stuck in the mud...then you are playing in puddles and have yet to run through a real mud pit. these tires are garbage...do not buy these...ever

Don't buy these tires for the mud! Don't buy these tires for the crud. Don't buy these tires for the trail! They're Performance will make you turn pale. Dont buy these tires for the street! Don't buy these tires cause you think they're neat. Don't buy these tires because a 35 is acctully measures a 34! Don't buy these tires, performance is overall poor! But i hear they're OK in the sand |

I have had 2 sets of these tires. One set on my 95' Wrangler 30X10.50 and the other on my 96' Ranger 33X12.50. They work great on or off road sand clay or mud.... The key to these tires to run good is lower pressure and keepem spinen so they sling the mud(clay) out, trustem they will keep ya movin. I can honestly say I have never been stuck with these on my truck. |

its called research | |

Before you go thinking your going to buy a mud terrain tire, you might want to do some research. They built this for all-terrain wear, which in my 2000 Beast of a Wrangler's opinion do a damn good job. Interco does make strictly mud tires, check out the truxes for example.

Can't find a place for these tires...

I recently bought a Scout that had a brand new set of these on it. Not cool. Not for a daily driver, not for a weekend warrior. They're decent in the mud, but if there's a high clay content, they don't clean well at all. Basically, If I were looking for a MT tire, I'd look elsewhere. If I were looking for an AT tire, I'd look elsewhere. If I were looking for a rock tire, I'd look elsewhere. The short of it is, the only thing these tires do well is sit there and look pretty. |

great tire | |

I as well just put these on my 05' Rubicon. All I can think of to complain about is the noise, and honestly, I really dont even care about that. Of course the wear isnt like a street tire, but you shouldnt expect that from a tire made by Interco... but for the wheeler that needs at least some wear control on road, this is the way to go! For a so called A/T tire, these are great in the mud, and an overall exceedingly decent performer. And hey, they look cool too.

unbeleivable | |

i put these tires on my 05 rubicon and have been constantly on and off road. ive never used a tire that gripped the mud so well. they cleaned decently but u get the grip from the side walls which did an unbeleivably great job. they are quite noisy on the street but so far havent worn down bad at all.

I selected this tire to run on my Dodge Ram, ( I know this is a jeep forum, but it has good reviews :P ) anyways I got the 33x10.5 R16s and my gas mileage instantly dropped from 14mpg to 11. On a daily driver that hurts and in the mud they fill up and turn into slicks. (I did not believe it till I saw it). Horrible in the Snow, I slid everywhere. Interco tried to make an A/T tire that was good in the mud, and all they got was a tire that gets bad gas mileage on the road and because of the A/T style of tread, a mudding tire that does not clean well. |

Not Bad | |

Not near as bad as off roaders try to tell you. They are very loud. Great in mud, exspecialy when it gets deep so the side lugs have a chance to work. Need to run low pressure, that will make them ride alot better.
