Skyjacker Adjustable Front Track Bar - Reviews

I have a crossover steering and the track bar perfectly aligns with the draglink. I dont even run a stabilizer and it has done fairly well. Skyjacker could do better by making a different more stable bracket for the swaybar link / stabilizer mount. I recommend replacing the poly bushings with rubber because the oem stabilizer mount is a bit narrow for the axle end of the bar; it really shreds poly bushings and has to be removed to regrease. might as well replace with new cheap rubber bushings for more flex. Dont use with a drop pitman on your draglink or you will experience what the guys below did and be all over the road with terrible wobble. With stock pitman you get excellent geometry, as the track bar and draglink are perfectly parrallel. Toss their stabilizer bracket and fabricate a custom mount.

Customer Rating Great Track bar

I bought this track bar for my Jeep 10 years ago. With 6" of lift and custom arms, this is the best one I could find that didn't interfer with any other part of my suspension. Sure I have to put new bushings in at 20k miles when the death woble comes back, but thats all I have had to replace. When you combine this track bar with the swaybar disconnects and new stabilizer, you can't beat the price. I bought mine from Tennessee Offroad, because it was highly recommended.

Customer Rating Front track bar on TJ

The Skyjacker FTB was a great install. I had the Death wobble at 45 to 50MPH and with a 4" lift that is scarry. Installing the Skyjacker FTB stopped that and now the jeep feels so much more solid driving down the highway.

This trackbar stinks. The Jeep wanders all over the place and several attempts at alignment doesn't help the problem because the trackbar IS the problem. I'm going back to a stock style. I'm with everyone else on this piece of junk.

DO NOT BUY THIS TRACK BAR!!!!! Just a terrible product plain and simple. The bushing on the axle end, hard as a rock and cracks. Stupid tapered bushing/bolt setup for the frame end. From the beginning, like everyone else, my Jeep is basically unsafe to drive with this piece of crap on it.

Customer Rating Same Issue

I have a 00' TJ ... put a 4" skyjacker kit on and the skyjacker adjustable track bar with the relocation bracket.

It was downright dangerous to drive over 30mph... After a few local jeep shops worked to improve handling, skyjacker tech support advised we remove the track bar and put original back on. Basically a known issue....

Put original back on and 90% of my "wandering" went away. It had to do with the relocation bracket placing everything out of line. They say it works well with the larger lifts... 8", 10", etc...

The online site I bought it from refunded 100%. Waiting for my "regular" adjustable track bar to come in...

I'm with yall guys with the bad review. i have a 2002 jeep wrangler tj with a 6" lift in the back and 8" lift in the front. The bumpsteer is not so much the issue as the constant walking across the roadway. Its horrible about drifting from side to side with this install. Along with that problem is the torque steer as mentioned, and i'm not talking about a small jerk it would pull harsh with acceleration and braking. I do not recommend this product to anyone.

Customer Rating Skyjacker Front Track Bar Kit
Date: Oct 20, 2007
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Camp Lejeune)
Overall I am very happy with this kit. At 6" of lift and the stock pitman arm, my drag link and track bar were parallel, and the angles were PERFECT! I could see how lower lifts could create a problem, but 5"-6" worked great. Little problems I had were that I had to move my sway bar link to the other side, at that much lift the drag link hits the sway bar link. Also, I expected it to be red, and it was black...but that was probably me ordering the black one and not the red one.

Customer Rating skyjacker adj trackbar / steering stabilizer kit
Date: Sep 18, 2006
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Ray City, GA)
The part number escapes me at the moment. i purchased a front trackbar kit and installed it on my ZJ. It uses the OEM steering stabilizer mount as the axle mount and uses a bracket to mount their steering stabilizer to. First of all, the mount requires a swaybar connector that is either stock, uses one of theirs that leaves the lower mount in place. (not JKS or teraflex)

Secondly, I experienced extreme torque steer and bumpsteer. The axle end bushing failed (collapsed) within a couple of months as well. It was replaced quickly, though. I was very new to the suspensions on ZJs and TJs. When I really inspected the setup, the angles were way off from the trackbar and draglink. I removed it and went to another trackbar.

I later upgraded the steering to the Teraflex High Steering conversion. I have used the trackbar successfully with that system on my ZJ.... with the exception of ruining another axle end bushing. Not recommended on suspensions using stock pitman arms and steering linkages. May work ok with hi-steer kits.

Just installed the lift and could not use the front or rear track bar with this lift. It would not align even close to factory and was VERY scary on the highway.I am running stock track bars for now until I get my money back from skyjacker. Would not but these track bars!

Customer Rating Don't Buy this

Ever since I installed this I have had nothing but problems with the trackbar. Bushings on the axle end have cracked 2 times. It was torqued to specs so it wasn't to tight. I get a lot of swaying in the front end after having this bar installed. Avoid buying this at all costs.

Customer Rating Adjustable track bar review
Date: Nov 20, 2005

I installed a Skyjacker 3" lift on my 1999 jeep xj. This resulted in extreme amounts of driveline vibration, and the rear brake hose pulling loose, even though they 'Skyjacker' said that I would not need new brake hoses, I had to install them out of pocket. I then had to purchase in addition to their kit some drop brackets to lower the transfer case and trans to help alliveate some of the driveline vibration.

I then sent the vehicle out for allignment, in hopes of curing the EXTREME bump steer which was now present. Dispite 4 attempts at alligning the front end by three dif shops which all specilize in 4x4's with lifts none could remove the bump steer. I then contacted Skyjacker about the problem. At this point Skyjacker stated that I needed their adjustable track bar to help alievate the bump steer. The track bar has only worstened the problem. It would seem to me that a drop pitman arm would have been the correct answer. I have made several attempts at installing skyjacker's adjustable track bar, and all have failed! As an ASE certified tech, I know how to read instructions. Dispite this fact contacting Skyjacker tech support resulted in "What have you done wrong?" attitude. Their advisor stating that i must have over torqued something was also incorrect, I know what a torque wrench is, and have used all factory torque specs as referance. Now with only 3k miles on the vehicle my lower control arm bushings have failed to the point that when the vehicle is backing and the brakes are applied the front axle shifts forward about an inch. All attempts to call Skyjacker managment to have the problem corrected have failed, I have all but given up. Any sugestions would be greatly appricated.

As with the other two reviews, when shifting gears and applying pressure on the gas pedal the Jeep would literarly shift to the left or the right. Felt very unstable. I've got a 4.0 I6 with the addition of a Borla header and exhaust, it was determined that made the problem much more noticeable. A 4 cyl with an automatic transmission probably wouldn't fare as bad, but if you have a manual and or inline six, this is not for you. Replaced it after two days with a Teraflex front trackbar, LOVE IT. Jeep rides great in all conditions, acceleration, braking, etc.

I have a 98 TJ 5 speed with a 4 inch Skyjacker lift. The problem that I had was everytime I shift gears it would pull to the left or right. I could not drive it more the 55 mph with out giting out of control. Skyjacker told me to put a 1/2 coil spacer to give the bar more angle. I put a 3/4 spacer did not work. I spend 89 dollars for the spacers and $125 for labor to install them.
