Hydro 7000's were junk!

Noticed a loud crunch in my rear right wheel well while doing any offroad driving in my 06 Rubicon, even a U-turn in grass at moderate speed. I bought the Jeep with a Skyjacker lift already installed with 35's and the jeep only has 28k miles. Ordered the Bilstein 5100's and installed them today...out of all the money I have spent on this jeep the only night & day difference was the ride and driving with the new shocks! The Hydro in the back rear girgled and was shot the other three were stiff with no travel. No more losing teeth and dodging pot holes! And yes, the rears are mounted upside down to most of us out there...verified that was correct and perfectly fine.

Very firm shocks. Definitely tend to feel the "give" in my old rubber bushings on my YJ, now. But, Bilstein is OE on Mercedes I think; 155mph on the autobahn, etc. I am putting a real premium on control. Probably ideal shocks with a 4 wheel indy suspension cars/trucks. With solid axles, their a little harsh. But, I've been nothing but happy with their overall performance on/off-road. |
