I purchased a 1996 grand cherokee with a ox locker already installed in a dana 30 front axle, since then it has been great. I put my jeep through some hardcore abuse and it has held up for over a year. The cable engages and disengages the locker flawlessly. The only drawback is an expensive cable and it can be a challenge to property route. I have replaced the cable once because the previous owner did not route the cable properly. Ox now carries a cable guard on their website to protect the cable from rocks. Good quality and reliable.

I installed one of the early generation Ox Lockers in my Dana 30 front with 33" tires. It worked for three years of hard wheeling until I put on 35s and the spider gears gave up. I contacted the manufacturer and they said the newer ones have 4 spiders and solve that weakness. They sent me a whole new one for a very good price, considering my old one was out of warrenty. I haven't had any problems since. The only downside is that you have to hold your hand on the shifter until it engages through turning the steering wheel or tire slip. Not a huge issue, but prevented my from giving it 10 stars. Disengaging uses a spring and doesn't require the same thing, you just shift it and when it can it will disengage by itself. It's as strong and reliable as your going to find in any other locker, if not more reliable. One tip, when you install your cable, wrap it with rubber hose in those spots that may contact metal objects. Also use springs or wire to hold it in place so it doesn't get damaged. Mine is now 6 years old and no cable or shifter problems ever. How many ARB owners can say that?

The best selectable locker out there!!!! Simple design, simple to use (2nd generation shifter), and a very beefy diff cover!!! The only downside is the control cable is not always easy to route and expensive to replace if damaged. I hit that rock juussttt right..... |
