I got these in my 99 Jeep Wrangler after much thought on what type of Locker to get. Some websites and blogs would leave you to believe that a locker on Wrangler with a manual transmission would be a real pain but not true! My wife can drive it with no problems and hardly notices it lock. It handles fine, it has the occasion pop or bang and sometimes pulls me a few feet to the left when it engages but it is awesome, what a change in the offroad manners. When it is icy I just put in 4WD and it handles fine. I didn't want to mess with air hoses or 12 Volt wires coming loose or any of that crap. With the Detroit step on the gas and it locks. Great value and performance.

I put Detroit Soft lockers on my CJ-7 in the front and rear. I performed the install with a buddy which neither of us ever installed one before. The directions suck, but thank god for the internet. The do use a 4 oz. friction additive that can be run with your normal weight lube. It's optional, but I run it. I must say the lockers perform great offroad, constantly doing there job without complaining. I run a twin stick on my Dana 300 so the Detroits work great in my application. On the road there are times when the rear locker will let you know it's there so to speak, but usually just around really sharp turns under power. I like the fact that Detroits have been around forever and had time to get the kinks out. If you drive more offroad than on road these are your lockers. I only took a point away because they say they could be ruined if a shaft would break. |

I've had the locker for about a month now and have used it for daily driving and offroad and have been very pleased with it in all areas. I was a little concerned at first with how it was going to act on pavement but going from a detroit tru-trac to a full locker I was surprised that there wasn't that much of a difference. Great economical and strong locker for the money.
