Powertrax Locker
Brand: Powertrax
Features: The Powertrax locker operates smoothly like a limited-slip differential, but still offers the traction of a locking differential. Unique gear and spring design reduces backlash, driveline windup, and ratcheting noises. This axle locker installs easily without the need for ring and pinion setup. Powertrax makes a variety of lockers to fit Dana 30, Dana 35, Dana 44, Dana 60, and Ford 8.8 axles.

Worthless Junk | |

Had a local shop recommend the Lock Right Locker for my Jeep Wrangler TJ. The first locker that these uneducated idiots shipped out was broken from them. The shop installed the locker and of course it only last about 3 months before blowing up. Had to tow the Jeep back to the shop and pay them to order another one and reinstall it again. Now, it works like it should. The whole experience cost me over $1,200. and I will never buy another product from such a dishonest company that puts out junk parts. I look forward top seeing this company filing bankruptcy.

After running a lok right in front for a long time I purchased a rear axle with a new powertrax installed that wasn't working. After inspection found small piece of power trax locker broken. Managed to find the correct part and order it. It is on back order from manufacturer. We ordered early May and they have pushed back estimated delivery twice now. Originally expected to ship in June then August and now Sept. Here where I live that is pretty much the entire wheeling season with a useless axle.

No-Slip in a 2006 Dodge 1500 4x4

I am not a jeepster but was looking for info on lockers. I chose a No-Slip PowerTrax for its cost, capability, road manners, and reliablity. It has functioned with the utmost in everything. It does clunk infrequently once in a while, and it will scrub the tires if you stay on it going around a corner. It locks up on the trail with excellent manners. It has given me very good traction rock crawling. I have not had any experience with Detroit Locker but the No-Slip is great with minimal bad manners. I do have a long wheel base, so that is a large contributor to it not having bad manners. Since all that had to be done was taking out the spider gears, the ring and pinon is not disturbed, so no driveline settings are messed up. I have had great experience with it, no problems with installation, no problems in the city, great traction on the trail rock crawling. No-Slip beats Detroit Locker hands down.

Better than expected | |

I got this locker for free from a friend who put an 8.8 in his YJ. It was missing some hardware, so I bought a new hardware kit from Summit for $19, comes with all new springs and check block. I put it in my D35C, per the great instructions. I did the install in my driveway and I painted my diff cover while I was at it. Of course, I installed new diff fluid, too. I did have to remove both rear wheels and drums (don't forget to release the parking brake, duh!), but that gave me a chance to wash the mud out from the back of my wheels. Rides smoother now. I have about 250 miles on it so far and it has performed way better on the street than I expected it to. I expected clicking, popping and banging like my buddy's Detroit, but I have none of that. I can feel it push and pull the vehicle around and it will steer the vehicle in a bend if you let it, but it is quiet as a mouse. It has increased my driveline "rubberbanding" a bit, but that was to be expected. I can't wait to get it offroad again to see what a locker can do for me. My buddy says he hates his Detroit and wants the Powertrax back! :)

This locker comes with great instructions and is very easy to install. It does everything you'd expect from a top quality locker and more. It is very quiet with minimal clicking and other noises you'd expect from a locker. My only complaint is that the Richmond Gear/Powertrax customer service is terrible. I emailed them 2 weeks ago with install questions and still haven't heard back from them. Still a great inexpensive locker. www.GrassRootsJeepClub.proboards80.com |

Great option for the price

Just installed these in the front and rear. They have taken me places I have not been able to go before. They are a great option for the price. If you are like me and have to save a while before you get the nice 44's with arb lockers and all the bells and whistles. These have made alot of the same trails i did without them....effortless!!!!

I just had a Powertrax installed last week with 3:73 gears. I have an 01 TJ with auto trans. Went went to Box Canyon today. Not a terribly tough trail but there are a few spots that are technical. I went up stuff today I wouldn't have dared try before. I left the front end open as I don't want any busted axles. I look forward to Jeepers Jamboree on the Rubicon this coming summer.

Powertrax No-Slip in rear axle.

I've got a No-Slip in my rear axle, despite many people saying that "lunchbox" lockers are bad in the rear. It is very well behaved on the road. Every now and then it may click, but its never violent, or loud. You'll learn to drive with it, after a few days its like it's not even there. Off-road its AWESOME. Locks up and never lets down. Have made it thru stuff that before would not have been possible with the stock limited slip.

I've had the locker on the rear of my XJ Cherokee for 3 years now. I'm mostly happy with it. Offroading (light to moderate that I do), it's great! On very loose surfaces like sand, though, it pushes the front straight even with the steering wheel turned, because there is not enough lateral traction on the front tires to unlock the rear differential. On the street there is a small amount of "clunking" and jerkiness that was not there with the stock "open" differential. The bottom line is I know I drove right out of mud that would have bogged us without the locking diff.
