JKS Sway Bar Quick Disconnects - Reviews

Customer Rating Just Make It Yourself

Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (JAX, FL)
A JeepReviews.com User from (LA, CA) is so right about JKS and the entire aftermarket Jeep industry. The entire world manufacturing industry for that matter. Most all of the companies do plan and design their products to break and wear out after a certain period of time. Especially since everything is manufactured in China, or uses parts from China. This is done by almost every munufacturer in the world in order for the company to create profit where ever, and how ever it can. This is no secret. Everyone on the planet should know this by now.

Now, the cure is to do exactly what I do every time, and exactly what the reviewer from LA hinted at. Just look at the product you want, then design and fabricate a better version, and make it yourself. Or, when you chose to buy after market product, replace all the nuts, pins, bolts, washers, clasps, etc with high quality, better made, longer, bigger, shorter (what ever you need) stainless steel from a hardware store for chump change. I have coffee cans full of stainless steel everything. I rarely even have to hit the hardware store any more. I have cans full of polyurethane, rubber parts, nuts, bolts, washers, etc. It all only takes up one shelf in my garage. Just stay stocked up on the essentials, as I call these things.

Yes, JKS could have done better, but I still give these 2001 JKS Quicker Disconnects I have on my 99 Wrangler 7 Stars. They are comparatively well designed, and built. I bought them because they allow me to make micro adjustments between the left and right links for allignment purposes. This allows me to force my truck to ride straight as an arrow on the highway. An 1/8th of an inch difference in length from one link to the other can compensate for even the worst side pull while your on the highway. And, no my alignment is not jacked up. I get it perfect every time and have the computer print outs to prove it. Often modified Jeeps pull to one side or the other due to all the modifications we do, and the natural right bank that virtually every road in the world has for water run-off. Also, there is the 1-3 degree right side thrust angles all vehicles have from the drive line angles, and thrust. These discos allow me to erase all of those factors with just one little 1/8th inch, or less adjustment. I am liking them alot.

Customer Rating Poor design, horrible service

Poor design, horrible service, overpriced junk.

I have had these on my TJ for a few years now. I am not impressed with the design. They use a single bolt threaded through a 1/8" steel bracket to hold them on. This is one of the most active points on your vehicle when driving, in relation to stress points and vibration. It's no surprise that I have lost 2 bolts in the short time that they have been on the vehicle, despite using thread lock and proper torque.

Here's where they add insult to injury.. they won't give you replacement bolts, but they will sell them to you... your final bill will be $18.00. $18.00 for a single bolt, sleeve and bushing ($4. worth of parts.) Then there's the $7.50 shipping and handling charge that actually cost $2.41 to mail USPS.

Oh, I can't forget to mention Jim the guy that I talked to on the phone was a jerk. You'd think he'd be happy with that kind of profit margin, but no.

I will not be buying any more of their gear. I would not recommend this product.

The only way that this would be useable is if you install longer bolts that go beyond the plate and use a locking nut outside the bracket to secure the thread from backing out while vibrating. I'm sure that they know this, but that would cut in to their after sale profits. They nailed me this time cause I was too busy to make it down to Home Depot, but it will be the last.

Customer Rating JKS Best Disconnects out there

Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Boise, ID)
I bought my 98 Sahara with a set of old disconnects on, and believe me I know what it's like to get on a front bumper and jump up and down to get them back on. Well one trail ride later I "accidentally" broke them and required new ones. Went down put these on (they are spendy yes, but aren't all nice things spendy?). If you are gonna do it, do it right. Anyways, I have used them everytime I go off-roading, and they not only create more suspension travel, they are quieter, and look better. I installed an apparatus on the front bumper to keep them out of the way of anything. Amazing, these are the best, if you need quick disconnects these are it! Just keep em' greased and you are sitting in the shade!

Customer Rating Extremely satisfied with mine!

I've been running my Quicker Disconnects on my XJ Cherokee for about a year now and think they really are great. Easy to connect and disconnect, quiet and being adjustable, I've even used them to help compensate for my Jeep's slight lean to the right by adjusting the right hand connect longer than the left one.

Downside: they are a bit messy when greased properly and I've removed the little red grease zerk caps as they don't stay on in any case. Just wipe the zerk with a cloth before greasing to ensure dirt doesn't go it.

Overall - I'd definately buy them again, very happy!

I have had mine on my TJ with a 3" lift for about 2 years and they have worked flawless. No squeaks or rattles. Make sure you keep them greased.

Customer Rating JKS Sway Bar Quick Disconnects - 2006 Wrangler Unlimited
Date: Apr 16, 2007
Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Laurie, MO)
This is the second set of JKS quick Disconnects I've owned (first on a 97 Jeep Wrangler, and the second on a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited). VERY easy to install, and easy to disconnect and reconnect. Very well made! I wish they'd have put the flush grease fittings on them however, as the little plastic caps supplied, never seem to stay on the grease fittings.

Customer Rating XJ Cherokee

I bought these along with an ARB Bull Bar with winch, a Powertrax diff locker, an OME 2" lift and an adjustable track bar (see my other reviews). I do light to moderate off roading. I just do not think the JKS disconnects, or any disconnects are necesary. They add complexity to the suspension, add messy, leaky zerks and the one time I actually disconnected them off road, the sway bar came loose, swung down and got trapped backwards in the suspension--requiring a minor trail repair. If you use disconnects, be sure to tie them up securely while disconnected.

Customer Rating Nothing better

While a little bit pricey, these are worth every penny.

Quick to install and very easy to use. I'm always discoed / reconnected before everyone on a trail ride.

Only downside is you have to keep 'em greased. I grease them with every oil change.

These are perfect. I purchased mine second hand also. I would recommend these to every one or anyone looking for a quick disconnect setup. The Technical Dept. at JKS are very helpful to boot.
I used these with a modified Rubicon/Rusty's 7" lift. No rattles, did I mention I have used ones. Perfecly engineered, easy to install and
use.

I have had these for about 6 months now. Got them from 4wheelparts for $121 plus tax(they price matched from DPGoffroad). I love them and would buy them again. They are completely silent and very easy to connect and disconnect. I like that they are greaseable.
I bent them but that was my fault. I failed to check tire clearance when I went to larger tires. JKS got replacement parts out to me quick. Very good service.

Customer Rating These stink

I had these on my 4" lifted WJ for a short period until the grade 8 pins bent in half from offroading. What the heck is that?! They were a pain to install and didn't hold up well to minor stuff.

they're the top of the line, and they cost me a little more than i would have liked. however, they are well thought-out, greasable, adjustable, and fold into disconnect mode like no other.

The quicker Disconnects for my 04 TJ are solid, well made, well designed and I highly recommend them. The reason for 9 instead of 10 is the cheap grease zerks on it. The plastic caps on the zerks don't stay on.

Customer Rating Very Good Discos

Reviewer: A JeepReviews.com User from (Chapel Hill, NC)
I used the JKS discos for a few years on my TJ. They were always easy to get on and off. I also like the extra pins for mounting them when discoed. You really can't go wrong with them, the only gripe I had was the amount of grease that leaked out of the bushings.

Customer Rating They're quiet and they work great!

I've had the JKS Discos on my TJ for about 20,000 miles now and they've been great. The install was pretty basic (although the directions that came with mine were very vague).

I keep my discos greased and have never had a problem disconnecting or reattaching. The pin system is very quick and easy to manage.

I've heard several other Jeepers complain that their disconnects (from other manufacturers) rattle a lot, but my JKS discos have never made a peep. I'm very happy with these and won't hesitate to buy another set if I ever get a new Jeep.
